UPDATE – Female Found Dead in Wooded Area near Newark Baptist Church:

Greene County – (Newark) Indiana State Police and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate the death of a Caucasian female that was found in a wooded area south of County Road 760 East and CR 740 North, which is located near the Newark Baptist Church, yesterday afternoon.

A positive identification of the victim will not be made until after the scheduled autopsy tomorrow afternoon in Terre Haute. At that time, family members will be notified and the victim’s name will be released. Investigating officers believe the victim is in her late 20’s or early 30’s. Foul play is suspected and several witnesses and persons of interest have yet to be interviewed or re-interviewed.

A cause of death is not known at this time. It had been rumored the victim’s death resulted from a domestic dispute with her spouse. That cannot be confirmed, as the victim was not married.

No arrests have been made. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
